Vorn Krace was a prominent military officer, currently serving as the Commanding Officer of the 1st Fleet within the Royal Hapan Armed Forces. He was born to Kyra and Tyron Krace in 4009 (Hapan Date) on Korriban. His parents - his mother an office worker from Corellia and his father a smuggler - were retired from their respective professions, and spent their time teaching their son how to survive on the harsh world.

Background

Vorn’s parents both worked out of a small outpost on the planet Korriban, which is renowned as a Sith planet. Vorn’s father worked as a smuggler during the days of the Old Republic, using Korriban as his base of operations, as the Security forces stayed away from it. His mother originally came from Corellia, and was used to utilising organisational skills in her old job in one of the planet’s offices. On one of his runs, Tyron had taken Kyra hostage in a desperate bid to escape the authorities. During his escape, the two fell in love and returned to Korriban to be wed.

However, after a serious injury in a bar fight to Tyron’s hands a few years later, he was forced to abandon his smuggling career, and settled down with his wife and their newborn son – Vorn.

Vorn was brought up as a typical child of Korriban would be – prepared to resort to violence when necessary and to fight extraordinarily. He learned about the Sith, and the old academy they once held, not far from Czerka’s old Dreshdae outpost.

While his father taught him how to expertly fly starships, his mother taught him organisational skills, such as personnel management, which she had used back on Corellia. After his eighteenth birthday, Vorn’s parents encouraged him to start working as a smuggler, and follow in his father’s footsteps. After a few years, Vorn became bored of this life, and left on a transport heading for the Tattoo system. Vorn was 24 at the time, and so had plenty of flight experience behind him. He had originally hoped to find someone hiring him as a freelance pilot, but came across a recruiter for the Hapes Consortium. After listening to him speak and looking up the Government on the Galactic News Network, Vorn became interested with the Royal Hapan Navy, and sent off an application. After a short amount of time, he was picked up by a Wookiee by the name of Roger Smith, and was taken to his assignment: the 1st Fleet.

Early Military Career

After joining the RHN, officers were normally assigned a fighter wing for duty. This was, however, not the case for Vorn. Normal Fleet activity had been put on hold while a large building project, called Operation Gormothopolis, was using personnel from all over the Navy. Because of this, Vorn was assigned as pilot of the YT-510 HRS Krystarn and given Recon duty with the rank of Crewman.

During Vorn’s service as a Recon Pilot, he underwent Naval Training under Sprange Bekker, the 1st Fleet’s Training Officer at that time. He was also promoted to the rank of Petty Officer, and later to the rank of Ensign. By this time, Operation Gormothopolis was coming to a close, and Naval reorganisation was drawing closer to the Fleets.

Vorn was given command of Eclipse Wing, which were a Miy’Til fighter wing and included Petty Officer Venik Olok and Ensign Lamento Solar. Eclipse Wing was in the newly created 1st Tactical Squadron, and was commanded by Lieutenant Anton Henton. Soon after this, Lamento Solar got promoted to the rank of Sub-Lieutenant and took over command of Eclipse Wing. This wing is where Vorn and Venik first became good friends.

Later, the Fleets were officially reorganised, and then again once more, during which new commands were created, dropped, and old ones merged together. Eventually, the Fleets settled down into a stable structure.

During this, Vorn and Venik joined the Noble House Firecam, which had only recently been brought into existence. They were both awarded the rank of Centurion.

Vorn later became a Legion Captain of House Firecam, and was assigned to the 4th Squadron under FLt Okku Pokku in the 1st Fleet now commanded by VAdm Vang Tyrridon. Vorn was assigned the ship HRS Thor, which was a Nova Battle Cruiser. It was Vorn’s second Nova which he had commanded, as for a short time he piloted the HRS Odysseus while under Lt. Henton after the first naval reorganisation.

After serving happily for a few months in the new system, Vorn found that Flag Lieutenant Lionola Ayun – one of 1st Fleet’s Squadron Commanding Officers – had requested to be put on the reserves list. This meant that the Vice Admiral had appointed Lieutenant Hkan Phonom to her now vacant position. This left the position of Fleet Personnel Officer open, which was given to Vorn.

Department of Personnel

The FPO position, as well as the Department of Naval Personnel itself, were fairly new creations, and so a lot of work had to be put into Vorn’s new role. This is where the knowledge Vorn’s mother, Kyra, passed on to him came into use. Vorn was now responsible for the training and assigning of new recruits in his Fleet, and for recommending promotions and appointments to his CO. He also took the task of completing training modules for the DoNP.

Vorn was then promoted to the House rank of Dragoon, in the next stage of the House’s ranking structure. Venik was also promoted, to the rank of Legion Captain.

Not much more than a standard month after this, the newly promoted Flag Lieutenant Hkan Phonom took command of the 1st Fleet, where several small changes in its running occurred, to which Vorn easily adjusted. Shortly after this, Vorn was awarded the rank of Sub-Lieutenant.

In June of the same year, Vorn was awarded the noble position as Commandant of the Naval Academy, and promoted to the rank of full Lieutenant for his efforts in helping LCdr Bekker in developing the Department of Naval Personnel, and was to be in charge of the entire Navy's training procedures.

In the following months, several changes happened for Vorn. Firstly, the Naval Academy became the joint Military Academy, and shortly after Vorn received a promotion to Flag Lieutenant. In February of 4035, he received his promotion to Lieutenant Commander, and was granted the position of Director of Military Personnel, to replace Lt.Commander Bekker, with the Academy falling back under the Directorate's control. In April, he was promoted to Drakengard within House Firecam, skipping the rank of High Templar.

With House Vassals being disbanded later that year, Vorn lost the title of Drakengard, but remained close with the former vassals of the House, and it's heads Lord and Lady Firecam. In November of 4035, he was promoted to the rank of full Commander, and shortly thereafter appointed as Deputy Minister of Defence.

In June of the following year, after having served as the head of the Military Academy for over two years, Vorn had decided that it needed a fresh officer at its head, full with new enthusiasm and energy. As such, he appointed Commander Bareck Justicar to the role, while he himself began work with General Toshikhan on a new advanced Officer's Academy. The following month, he was promoted to Line Captain.

Royal Council

Come October, there was a need for new leaders to take their places at the very head of the Hapan Government, and Vorn was called upon to serve as the new head of the large Ministry of the Interior, leaving the RHAF for the first time since joining the Consortium, bestowed with the rank of Commodore, granted to him by Lord Regent Firecam shortly after Vorn's appointment to the Royal Council.

Vorn served in the capacity of a Minister for almost a full year, bringing about many structural reforms and bringing to life the old department that had fallen into dissuse over the past two years. In late August, he made the decision to take a step back from the hectic lifestyle he had crafted for himself, and switched places with his former Deputy, Andrew Starfyre, Vorn himself becoming Deputy Minister for the Interior.

Return to the Military

Early the next year, Vorn began seeking a job whose duties would tie in much more suitably with his new time availability, and took a position that was once again where he began; within the military. Joining the High Command as part of the upper echelons, he took on the duties of fleet reports, promotion records, and fleet training programs, and began to work on bringing them back up to the standards that had existed during his previous term in the military. In May of 4038, Vorn was appointed as the temporary commander for the First Fleet, tasked with bringing the historical unit back up to the standards expected of it, whilst its full-time command staff were on an unavoidable leave of absense from active duty. Through his work with the fleet and the initiatives he began, Commodore Vacosa later confirmed the appointment as a permanent one.
