The Lorell Raiders were the savage pirate and mercenary ancestors of most Hapans. They lived during the last centuries of the timeperiod referred to as the Pre-Founding Age and were the first humans to settle within the Hapes Cluster.

Overview

Origins

Records regarding the Lorell Raiders are scarce as the early generations of Hapans saw no particular need to document information regarding their ancestors which they considered to be primitive brutes. However, it is known that the Lorell Raiders' organisation had a fairly loose hierarchy prior to settling in the Hapes Cluster. It is likely that the Raiders were bands of pirates from all sorts of worlds across the galaxy.

Settling in Hapes

The Lorell Raiders were often at odds with the security forces of the Galactic Republic which was one of their favourite targets to raid due to the lack of any major organised Republic defense force. However, some of the Republic's more militaristic member-worlds tired of the pirate raids and set out to destroy the Lorell Raiders in -470.

The Raiders fled from the Republic forces in to the Hapes Cluster via what is now called the Lorellon Conduit, where they discovered the Lorell system. As the Republic fleet did not pursue them in to the Transitory Mists, the Raiders decided to set up base on Lorell.

They eventually ventured further in to the Hapes Cluster and discovered the Hapan system in -447 but did not colonise it until -429.

Breeding a race

Having found a safe base of operations, the Lorell Raiders set out to raid Republic worlds once again. But rather than just take supplies, goods and treasures, they also began to kidnap the most beautiful females they could find. They took them back to Lorell and Hapes Prime where they forced the women in to wedlock. Raiders would often have multiple wives to satisfy their lusts. On their two planets they built a primitive society where the women were a secondary enslaved caste. The Lorell Raiders also employed (and in some part enslaved) members of the Vergill to function as a servant caste, using their robbed spoils from foreign worlds to live a life of luxury on the Hapan worlds.

Over the centuries the women came to outnumber the males and a new breed of humans had been born. Hapans, as they later came to be called, had poor nightvision due to the concentration of stars within the Hapes Cluster along with multiple moons around several of the Raiders' base-worlds. But at the same time the race was naturally beautiful with bronze skin, fair hair and other attractive features.

Clash with the Jedi

The Galactic Republic sent their Jedi protectors to deal with the threat of the Lorell Raiders in -51. Many large battles were fought outside the Hapes Cluster on Republic worlds, as well as within neutral starsystems such as Vena. The final battle of the Lorellon Conduit ended with victory to the Jedi.

Lacking functioning ships which were strong and fast enough to raid foreign worlds, the remaining few Lorell Raiders were trapped within the Hapes Cluster.

Female uprising

The females now greatly outnumber the males within the Hapes Cluster and the wife of a high ranking pirate captain, Ta'a Chume, led an uprising against the men with the help of Enilithia Nele'serin from -45. After a lengthy struggle, the women succeeded in their rebellion in -39. The tables were turned and the females assumed a dominant role within the society that existed in the Hapes Cluster.

Following Ta'a Chume's death in -3, Enilithia Nele'serin became the leader of the Lorell Raider society before establishing the Hapes Consortium in 1, making herself Queen of Hapes Prime.
