Template:Era (Foundation Era)
The Foundation Era (1–237) is considered part of the Age of Queen-Mothers and is one of the most significant time-periods in Hapan history. The Hapes Consortium was established as the formal government of the Hapan and Lorell systems with a ruling monarch who held the title Ta'a Chume, named after the woman who led the rebellion against the Lorell Raider oppressors. The Consortium was significantly smaller than it was today and its military power was very limited, still suffering from blows dealt by the Galactic Republic and their Jedi guardians.
Monarchy
Enilithia Nele'serin is noted in most historical archives as Queen-Mother Nele'serin I, but she never called herself by the title Queen-Mother. Nor did her daughter Zafiq Nele'serin call herself Queen-Mother Nele'serin II. They did, however, consider themselves monarchs, but were crowned as mere Queens of Hapes Prime. It was not until Queen-Mother Nele'serin III came to power in year 56 that the title Queen-Mother (Ta'a Chume) was used. The title was her own creation, named after Ta'a Chume who had led the female revolt against the Lorell Raiders. She bestowed the title upon those who had ruled before her as well, ordering records to be changed. She was the first true Ta'a Chume, and it was under her that the government began to take real form with the creation of an official navy and the establishment of firm laws and regulations. Their rule of the Hapes Consortium lasted nearly two and a half centuries until it came to an abrupt end with the assassination of Queen-Mother Nele'serin VII at the hands of a pirate group that was operating within the Hapes Cluster at the time.
There was no officially recognised nobility to speak of at the time, but the governors of colonies were appointed by the Queen-Mother and given the rank Ta'din which was converted in to a noble title during the Tini'duran dynasty.
Expansion
The Lorell Raiders had only colonised Lorell and Hapes Prime with smaller outposts and military bases as they had no intention of building a government in the Hapes Cluster. During the Foundation Era, the Queen-Mothers of the Nele'serin dynasty expanded the Consortium with the colonisation of Maires, Nakatay, Vergill and Terephon. These worlds were chosen due to their strategic proximity to Hapes Prime and rich natural resources that would serve as the building blocks for the society that had emerged from the chaotic rule of the Lorell Raiders.
Armed Forces
Many foreign powers, mercenaries and pirates were eager to take advantage of the initially somewhat frail government. Some were motivated by the loot the Lorell Raiders had amassed over the decades. Others were out for revenge for the damage the Raiders had previously inflicted on their civilisations.
In year 13 the Royal Hapan Army was established on Lorell and Hapes Prime in order to have local professional military garrisons in the event of invasions. It helped keep the peace in more outlying Hapan colonies where the men sometimes attempted to rebel against their spouses, unhappy with the way the tables had turned. Females had to go through professional military academies in order to become part of the new army.
The Royal Hapan Space Fleet was established in 57 by Queen-Mother Nele'serin III in order to counter the constant threats by these outside factions. At the time, the military of the Hapes Consortium consisted mostly of old pirate and raider vessels that the females had taken from their husbands and oppressors. The Hapan Consortium shipyards, owned by the Royal Family, were constructed around Hapes Prime in order to provide a professional military for the government.
