Template:Facility-Current The Castle of Per'Agthra is the former Royal Hapan Palace, located on the outskirts of Chume'Dan on Hapes Prime. It was the Royal Residence from 280 to 2020 and again from 4000 to 4034 due to the damage the Fountain Palace sustained during the Hapan Civil War. It is built in a classical Hapan architectural style of the First Expansion Era which later became even more widespread during the Antiquity Era and on, and has been hailed as the very symbol of Hapes Prime.
History & Role
The construction of the palace was ordered by Queen-Mother Arxianic II in 276 in order to replace the Reef Fortress, which was seen as a insufficient residence for the rulers of a government that now spanned several wealthy and vastly populated starsystems.
Unlike the Reef Fortress, which was located off the coast of Ta'a Chume'Dan, the palace compounds containing the Castle of Per'Agthra was constructed on the outskirts of the city, close to the shoreline. The domes and spires of the palace were innovating, moving away from the somewhat clumpsy and simple architectural style that dominated many Hapan cities at the time. In time, the new style became typical of Hapan architecture, gaining even more prominence during the Antiquity Era.
The Castle of Per'Agthra remained the primary royal residence until the Second Antiquity Era when the Fountain Palace was built at the center of Chume'Dan. Though some two thousand years later, the castle once again became the primary residence from 4000 to 4034 due to the damage the Fountain Palace sustained during the Hapan Civil War. Renovations of the Fountain Palace completed in 4034 for the birthday of King James, once again reducing the Castle of Per'Agthra to its secondary role.
